This is the first in a series of paintings of a still life composition of my "tools of the trade" done for a class called "Painting Beyond the Obvious" taught by Mike Bailey at the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society.
In this 10 week workshop, our assignment was to make two full sheet (22"x30") paintings each week of our subject, using the elements and principles of design and our imaginations to go "beyond the obvious".Every week we heard lectures about the various aspects of design, and tried to incorporate them into our work.
Here are a few of the 23 paintings I did.
